Hiit and other forms of torture

Last night I decided to switch things up and go to the HIIT- high intensity interval training class. It was led by crystal who killed Jared and myself at TRX on Saturday. I figured she is so ripped herself that she might be able to help me out a bit! Boy was I right...huffing and puffing and crazy heartbeats were a plenty during that class! I loved it so much I asked the instructor for a copy of the workout and she gave me hers!
Today I didn't have time to go to the gym, so doing the HIIT workout at home was perfect! I thought I'd share it in case anyone else wanted to join in the at home fun!

Warm up: jumping jacks, squats, dynamic stretches

Practice Tabata rounds: 1 min each.
Quick feet with squat thrusts
Reach jumps
Reactive feet

3x through superset
30sec bench push up
30sec bench dip

Tabata round 1: 8x 20/10 quick feet with squat thrust

3x through superset

30sec Bulgarian split squat right

Tabata round 2: 8x 20/10 reach jumps

3x through superset
30 sec traveling plank
30 sec chest lifts

Tabata round 3: 8x 20/10 reactive feet

And then you lay on the floor trying to catch your breath!

At home workouts

Today Caden woke up with a yellow green unidentifiable substance dripping out of his nose...which means no YMCA for us today. Which means I need to find a good at home workout today.

I've done some workouts from bodyrock.tv, and some other workouts I've found online, as well as tae bo videos and Jillian michaels DVDs. I'm trying to get a balance of cardio and lifting, which seems to be my downfall. I enjoy doing cardio so much more because I sweat more...which to me seems like I'm getting a better workout. I know all that cardio was helpful in losing that baby weight. Caden used to love sitting in his bouncy seat watching me workout. It was so funny, and also helpful! I've recently found a website called crossfit mama, so maybe I will try a workout from there. The issue is always making the most of my time. I hate getting ten min into a workout and realizing it isn't what I was looking for.

I'm always open to suggestions! Moving forward!

I really want to eat that dark chocolate brittle

This is the worst time of year to start being accountable with my food! That dark chocolate brittle and peppermint hot chocolate is just screaming my name!!! But I have been resisting. I'm thinking I will allow myself one treat a week. Maybe two...or ten.

I have been doing really well at tracking my food in my journal. I'm using the myfitnesspal app, which is awesome and free! It tells me calorie, and sugar intake as well as gives me an option for adding in my exercise. Love it so far. It is keeping me from eating those pesky tricuits sitting in the cupboard.

Jared has me taking l carnitine which is a natural supplement that is supposed to help with metabolism. Whatever. I'm taking it so we shall see if it helps. I also take a multi vitamin and calcium. I'm like a supplement hoarder!

Twice this week Caden was crying so much at he ymca daycare that they had to come get main the middle of my favorite classes! This was a huge letdown especially since we've been going there almost every morning for the last 3 months, and he never cries when I leave him! I guess it must be a developmental thing or something. Who knew at 17 months old he would start to need mommy more!? I'm hoping this week will go much better.

Hopefully I will get a few pictures taken to go along with my measurements. Jared thinks I look smaller already, and that is one of the many reasons I married him:)

Well here's to starting week two! Come on progress!!!
